Contact Lens Prescription
1. Overview
The Contact Lens Prescription feature enables practitioners to create, manage, and store soft contact lens prescriptions for patients. This functionality is integrated within the Patient module under the RX section and is designed to support efficient, accurate, and traceable prescription management.
2. Navigation Path
To access and create a contact lens prescription:
Patient Module → Open or Create a Patient → RX Tab → Vision Section → Contact Lens Tab → Click on Add

3. Creating a Patient Record
Before creating a contact lens prescription, ensure that a Patient Record exists.
- Navigate to the Patient module.
- Click on Create, enter all mandatory details (e.g., name, DOB, gender, etc.), and Save the record.

4. Accessing the Contact Lens Prescription Tab

Go to the RX Tab in the patient form.
Under Vision, there are two sub-tabs:
- Refractive
- Contacts
- Click on the Contacts tab and then click Add to open the prescription entry form.

5. Prescription Entry Form: Field Details
Once the form opens, you can begin entering the contact lens prescription details.
5.1 Default Lens Type
- The default lens type is Soft Contact Lens.
5.2 Provider Selection
- Select the prescribing Provider.
- If the provider is external to your practice, enable the External Provider checkbox.
- You can then import provider data directly from the NPI Registry.

5.3 Usage Field
- The Usage field offers default usage types (e.g., Daily, Extended, Monthly).
- You can also create a new Usage by typing it in and pressing Enter.
- This will auto-create a new record for future use.

5.4 Prescription Dates
- Prescription Date: Date when the prescription is issued.
- Expiration Date: Date after which the prescription is invalid.
- Discontinue Date: If the lens usage is stopped before expiry.
- Discontinue Reason: Reason for early discontinuation (optional).
5.5 Lens Selection

Choose the contact lenses to be prescribed.
Based on the selected lens style, the following power-related fields will appear:
- BC (Base Curve)
- Diam (Diameter)
- Power
- Cylinder
- Axis
- Add (for multifocal lenses)
Each eye can be customized independently:
- OD (Right Eye)
- OS (Left Eye)

5.6 Notes
A Notes field is available for entering any additional prescription information, practitioner comments, or follow-up instructions.
6. Saving the Prescription
After filling all the necessary fields:
- Review the details.
- Click Save to finalize the prescription.
- The prescription will now be visible under the Contact Lens tab in the Vision section.

7. Additional Features (Optional)
- Future enhancements may include reminders for expiry, prescription printing, and integration with lens inventory or sales.
